Everyone someone says that being trans is just a phase because there are no old trans people, I think of situations like this. So many people hid who they were because the world wasn’t as accepting.
The ice cube one is legit funny tho. If I ever have a baby I’m doing that, but I’m not gonna tie a game into it. I’m just gonna serve drinks with floating babies in them.
that thing about how removing the middle 2 panels of a cad comic makes it funnier is true
holy shit
I can’t even imagine what meaningless filler went into panels 2-3.
oh my god these are actually funny
this is 100% true and once you remove the horrible filler bullshit its comedy gold
I feel bad that I found every single one of these hysterical this way, like this is actually masterful comedic timing here and examples of flawless setup/punchline.
Which makes me realize two-panel comics are strangely rare in general. Everyone always goes with a minimum of three. You really don’t need to.
not to say things on main but it’s kinda fucked up that the mockery and torment of fat people, especially fat kids, is still considered socially acceptable
Anonymous asked: On the new occasionally there will be a story and how "people are the fattest they have ever been" and while I used to believe it, I now realize they throw that story up every time they have a slow news week. So, a question I ask now is, are people really "fatter then ever?" Because I've seen historical paintings of overweight people, so surely that must mean overweight people have always existed, and it's not just some 'new age problem' the news reports claim it to be.
Fat people have always existed! You can read about fat people in ancient writings and you can see images of fat people in ancient art. Size diversity is a natural characteristic of the human animal.
But it is also true that, on average, humans are fatter than we have ever been. In the decades between the early 1980s and the turn of the century, in particular, humans got fatter. On average, America gained between 7 and 14 lbs in that time period. But this weight gain trajectory leveled off by the 2000s, and population weights have been stable in America since then. Similar results have been observed in other countries.
You know what else happened when people got fatter? We started living longer. Somehow, that particular correlation doesn’t get any press.
(You can find citations for this information in my tags or in the writings/research of Paul Campos or Katherine Flegal)
For Anon who was asking why people have gained “so much weight” in the last 50 years. In short: we haven’t.
Honestly, I think the reason media with younger audiences tends to be labeled as “cringe” is because young people approach their interests with an earnest excitement that adults find disquieting and uncomfortable. No, the Proper and Adult way to do things is to be alienated from your own emotions and approach everything with a disaffected irony, because god forbid you have a Genuine Emotion.
Basically 90% of cringe culture is “haha, this person is too enthusiastic about their hobby/not an expert at it.”
